LA Premiere of the film “The Last Shop on Walnut” that took place Wednesday, June 3rd at Harmony Gold in LA

Cast, Filmmakers and Industry Supporters Gather at Harmony Gold Theater for Red Carpet Premiere and Post-Screening Q&A

LOS ANGELES, CA (June 4, 2026) – The cast and filmmakers behind the highly anticipated independent drama The Last Shop on Walnut celebrated the film’s Los Angeles premiere on Wednesday evening at the Harmony Gold Theater in Hollywood, welcoming entertainment industry leaders, media, supporters, and special guests for a red-carpet event, special advanced screening, followed by a Q&A with the cast and writer/director.

Leading the celebration were stars Peter Lawson Jones (A Man called Otto)Emmy Award nominee Kym Whitley, and Donald Webber Jr. (Hamilton / Severance), alongside writer-director Jason L Richardson, producers, cast members, and supporters of the film.

Prior to the screening, Kym Whitley introduced the film to the audience and gave a moving talk about her long-standing friendship and collaboration with the film’s producer and co-star Peter Lawson Jones.  After the film Jones, Webber, and Richardson treated the audience to an engaging post-screening Q&A, where they discussed the film’s themes of family, forgiveness, community, and second chances.

Written and directed by Jason L Richardson, The Last Shop on Walnut follows Marvin Statler, a reclusive lamp shop owner who has spent fifteen years living above his struggling business. As mounting financial pressures, neighborhood gentrification, and the unexpected arrival of a family member force him to confront his past, Marvin must decide whether he is ready to reconnect with the world around him and embrace a new future.

The premiere highlighted the film’s powerful ensemble led by Jones as Marvin Statler, Whitley as Darlene, and Webber as Michael, alongside a cast that includes Mario Beverly, Shannon Metelko, Phil Elam, Brian Fronk, Alexis Prewitt, Jacki Hydock, Madison Ledyard-King, and Nicole Yost.

The evening celebrated not only the film’s Los Angeles debut but also the growing momentum behind a project that has resonated with audiences through its heartfelt exploration of grief, reconciliation, and the changing face of American neighborhoods.
