Jean Shafiroff, philanthropist, author, and humanitarian, hosted an elegant holiday cocktail reception in her Upper East Side apartment to benefit the Mission Society of NYC. The festive gathering brought together a diverse array of guests united by their commitment to philanthropy. At the reception, the Mission Society of NYC and Jean Shafiroff were presented with citations for their philanthropic work from NYS Assemblywoman Rebecca Seawright.
The Mission Society of NYC, a venerable nonprofit founded in 1812, continues to provide life-changing programs for underserved youth and families in New York City. Shafiroff, a long-time supporter of the organization, welcomed guests to her beautifully adorned home, which was elegantly decorated for the holiday season with twinkling lights, and floral arrangements.
The event included a speech by Shafiroff, who emphasized the importance of the Mission Society of NYC’s work in education, job training, and mentorship programs. She urged attendees to join her in supporting the organization’s vital mission.
Guests enjoyed hors d’oeuvres, holiday cocktails, hors d’oeuvres, and live piano music. The setting provided a backdrop for conversations and inspiration to make a difference during the holiday season.

Jean works extensively as a volunteer fundraiser and leader in the philanthropic world. She serves on the boards of 8 charitable organizations and each year chairs upwards of eight to ten different charity galas. In addition, she is a member of the Advisory Board of the Historical Society of Palm Beach County. A Catholic, Jean served on the board of the Jewish Board for 28 years and now is one of their honorary trustees.
